Inti Runakunaq Wasin joins the Global Agreement for the Bamboo Village Trust Initiative, which seeks to reforest in the next 10 years 400 thousand hectares of degraded areas in tropical and subtropical forest territories around the world, promoting a circular and regenerative local economy based of bamboo.
In an exciting virtual signing ceremony, together with 25 other organizations from around the world, Inti joins this Global Initiative to create 200 Bamboo Communities and Territories around the world, promoting territorial management models in degraded agroecosystems in the province of Convention.
Under the leadership of Bamboo Village Ruta (Bali, Indonesia), the Global Initiative seeks to develop a regenerative local economy that, together with the empowerment and organization of local communities, generates sustainable business models based on bamboo, restoring degraded agroecosystems and generating opportunities decent employment for 100 thousand producer families in the tropics around the world.
It should be noted that Inti Runakunaq is the only South American organization to pass the exhaustive evaluation process, strengthening the actions that have been carried out in favor of the bamboo production chain in the southern macro region of the country.
Bamboo Village Trust is an ambitious initiative aimed at restoring degraded lands and creating sustainable livelihoods in the tropics and subtropics. The Trust is notable for pioneering the creation of Bamboo Villages: community-based bamboo-based agroforestry projects that restore soils, revitalize ecosystems and strengthen rural economies.
